The Management

The Temple of Shree Laxmi Devalaya, Benaulim came to be registered under the Devasthan Regulation Act (The Mahajan Mandal Kaida) after the constitution of the temple was Published in the official gazette No. 52, Series –III on 30-9-1978. Prior to the registration under the Mahajani Act, the administration of the Shree Laxmi Devalaya, Benaulim was handled by “Laxmi Pujan-utsav Fund committee” whose name was later changed to “Laxmi Prasadik Satyonnati Samaj” from the year 1913 to 1978.

After the Registration of the Devalaya under the Mahajani Act in the year 1978 a new constitution of the Devalaya was established under the relevant provisions of the Mahajani Act. The Registration gave rise to the formation of a composite list of Mahajans and enrolment of Mahajans took place.

Under the said Act which is still in force, a regular Managing committee along with a substitute committee is elected for a term of 3 years by a secret ballot.  The Managing Committee elected comprises of 4 members i.e. President, Treasurer, the Secretary and Attorney along with substitute committee with same designations for looking after day to day administrations and religious affairs of the temple. The Managing Committee annually prepares a budget and also has to prepare the Audited Financial statement of the account of the Temple which is placed before the General Body of the temple for its approval and then sent to the Administrator of Temple, Government of Goa.
